Yes what a success on our
Staffordshire Moorlands Conservative Association stand
New members joining, new and returning Patrons in our special Patrons Club
a very successful fund raising raffle to help pay for our stand
our Member of Parliament Karen Bradley with husband Neil calling in between official duties,
District and County Councillors in constant attendance
and many many members and friends and families calling in for refreshments
on a sweltering sunny day
for tea, coffee, lemonade, coke, beer, lager, red, white and rose wine
everyone enjoying the day, having a rest and chat.
So many people contributed to make a marvellous day.
Our Treasurer Nick Burton started erecting our tent at 1pm on Friday afternoon with great help from
David and Thalia Bode, our Chairman Matthew Tolley with
President Ian Lawson popping in to give moral support.
9am Saturday morning saw the team finish the stand off, we had cool boxes full of ice for drinks,
some drinks provided by the Association, our Deputy Chairman Ross Ward,
Councillor Gill Heath and our President Ian Lawson helped provide various wine,
our former Chairman Paul Chauveau once again generously provided
tables chairs and lager ! and his personality and enthusiasm.
Thalia was ready with her old camping stove for tea and coffee, we were all set.
Paul and Margaret Roberts worked all day with the raffle, nobody does it better.
Our Deputy Chair Nicole Redfern worked tirelessly all day recruiting members and Patrons.
Councillors old and new were talking to visitors all day.
Young Joe Porter was enthusiastically chatting for the duration, Roy Tomkinson our Leek Branch Chairman
nearly managed to drink as much beer as Matthew Tolley drank pop and orange !
Ian Lawson, Matthew Tolley, Pam Able, Julia Seal, Brian Johnson, countless others,
all our SMCA Officers, Branch Officers, Councillors, Members with
friends and family of all ages made it a Leek Show to remember,
and yes of course the beautiful weather helped.
Nick and his packing up team managed to get going as our last visitors left about 6pm.
Paul and Margaret Roberts, David and Thalia Bode, Matthew Tolley, Ross Ward and
Joe Porter worked like a well oiled military machine,
We were ready to leave with tent, tables and everything else just after 6.30pm
and we all thought what a really good day.
Ready now for next year !
Success was all down to teamwork, effort and so many people contributed.
This same teamwork and effort must and will be repeated throughout the coming months
and it will help our excellent MP Karen get re-elected in 2015 and of course a Conservative government.
